Medals are used to unlock the Legendary Super Managers. They are awarded when you complete the Impossible Island mines within a certain time.
Each mine has a maximum of three medals, and you can replay the mines to obtain all three. But you cannot replay an Impossible Mine to gain more than three medals. There is no use playing an Impossible Mine you have already gotten three Medals from.
