Sometimes, you may be stuck at a certain point of the game. There are some strategies, which will help you to progress on and boost your progress a lot, and some general tips to do which are also useful.
Balanced[]
Balanced is when the Mine Shafts, Elevator and Warehouse produce around the same cash rate. It is a choice for beginners, and the simplest mining strategy. It is highly recommended to use cost reduction managers to make upgrades cheaper. Use Mr. Goodman (Warehouse), Mrs. Goodman (Elevator), and Goodman Jr. (Mine Shaft). Their minimum cost reduction is 88.5%, their effects are even better when upgrading them with Blue Gems.
Shaft-Ahead[]
Shaft-Ahead means the Mine Shaft produces more money than Elevator and Warehouse can handle. It is used when they are much more expensive than the Mine Shafts. Mine Shafts are upgraded only; the Elevator and Warehouse are completely ignored. However, some Super Managers have the ability to transmit cash directly to Warehouse in increased multiplier (around 9x-13x), or some of them can make "Instant Cash" for free, without having to spend additional cash to upgrade Elevator and Warehouse. This is commonly used in continents and Event Mines, when reaching around Elevator/Warehouse level 1400. Note that you will gain profits only when you are using a shaft-ahead Super Manager; you will not gain cash when idle or when not using them. Like Balanced strategy, use cost-reduction Managers, or use Goodman Jr., because you will not upgrade less regularly than Balanced.

- Mr. Turner [Rare] (10x gain, 30s/15m) (the first manager from Mainland)
- Blingsley [Rare] (8.5x Cash per 5s, 1m/30m)
- Sir Henry [Rare] (16.35x gain, 30s/15m) (real cash only for 30 days)
- Dr. Steiner [Epic] (2.54x gain, 5m/30m)
- Jade Kim [Epic] (2.54x gain, 5/30m)
- Floating Agatha [Epic] (24x gain, 30s/30m)
- Rabbid Blingsley [Epic] (2.54x Cash per 1s, 2m 30s/15m) (considered to be one of the least useful Super Managers)
- Sir Lorenzo [Legendary] (10.19x Cash per 1s, 1m/30m)
Shaft-Behind[]
After another point, you will begin to notice the Mine Shafts are too expensive to upgrade compared to the Elevator and Warehouse. This is called "Shaft-Behind"; when the Mine Shaft produces less cash than Elevator and Warehouse. It is also divided into 3 sub-strategies: Elevator-Ahead, Warehouse-Ahead, and Stockpiling. General Tips[]
- Try to upgrade Super Managers and combine their effects to multiply them! Commons to Level 40 (14M Blue Gems total), Rares to Level 30 (8M Blue Gems), Epics to Level 20 (13M Blue Gems). Example: Level 30 Mr. Turner and Ranger Sue at Level 30 each give a 1.24x multiplier to the income of the whole mine, and their effects multiply. This means that if you get those rares to 30, you will earn a 1.54x (1.24 x 1.24 = 1.5376) income multiplier!
- Use Specific Collectibles. If you are focusing on Start, Ice, Fire, or Dawn Continent you may want to switch to epics that are continent specific and choose the one that fits your need. However, you will need to use Legendary Collectibles for the Dusk, Ancient and Underwater Continent, Mainland, Event Mine, and Impossible Island. It is also recommended to spend Super Cash in legendary chests, and to level up them to 3/3/3 (level 3 on Elevator, Warehouse, and Mine Shafts).
- Friends Boost. Having 20 friends means you will get a 2x multiplier in all mines! Also, they will help you complete Expeditions faster. If you don't know where to look for friends, try the Idle Miner Tycoon Reddit.
- Complete Mainland mines regularly. They may be a time-taking process but they are the key to Super Managers, which is essential to progress through, especially in early game. They are more powerful than Managers, most of their effects are used for strategies, and they also give passive effects!
- Always use Super Managers and Managers. You will benefit from those powerful effects! Do not hesitate to use their special, useful abilities!
- Always upgrade using a cost-reduction Manager/Super Manager. Spend your money even better! Especially 3 cost-reduction Super Managers: Mr. Goodman (Warehouse), Mrs. Goodman (Elevator), and Goodman Jr. (Mine Shaft) will help you by making at least 88.5% cheaper prices.
